Woo!  I’m getting close to the goal, but I think after that I’m still going to keep on going with this story. I’m getting close to a fun scene, but in the meantime I had a rare opportunity to let Eral and Joleth get to talk to each other without Elias around to be, well, Elias at them.

Excerpt:

“Hey, don’t stereotype,” Eral warned. “You met a buncha pixies back in that little town. We’ve all got different personalities. Just because we all know how to have a good time doesn’t mean anything.”

Joleth snickered. “I wish it was that simple for me,” she admitted. “Harmless fun and lots of laughter, that’s what everyone expects out of pixies. With me you’d think they expect me to pull some hellbeast out of my pocket.”

“Funny, people always expect that some dumb shit should shove me into a pocket. Or a box, or under a vase. Maybe I’ve been the hellbeast all along,” Eral mused.

Joleth couldn’t hold in a laugh. “You may be annoying sometimes, pixie, but I wouldn’t go that far.”

“Thanks, I’m flattered, really.”

Once again didn’t do as many words as I wanted. It is Monday, my dudes.

Excerpt:

“She’s … how much do you know about the Ways? The paths of the gods?” Elias asked, scratching his head.

Eral frowned, but Joleth had an answer this time. “Supposedly how the gods move when they aren’t using earthly vessels,” she said. “Like their own realm. You’re not saying she’s seen them?”

“My friends, this oracle has seen them, walked them, lived in them,” Elias said smugly. “Of course, it drove her completely batshit insane, but she survived all that energy and the sight of the original gods in their true forms. You bet they’re gonna bless the stuffing out of her for a feat like that.”

This week has been a time, for sure. I’m kinda doing the minimum I need to get by, though I had a ton of buffer so that’s good. I’m hoping I can get past the mopey mood this week and really knock out some WORDS over the upcoming Thanksgiving days off.

Excerpt:

“There’s … a what guarding the shores over there?” Eral blurted indignantly. He stood on Joleth’s head with his hands on his hips, and they both fixed Elias with their most skeptical glares.

“A giant flying sea serpent!” Elias chirped, unabashed. “Her name is almost as long as she is, so I just call her Gladys.”

I was not feeling well most of this evening, so I decided to call it quits sooner than I might have otherwise. I still got a lot done, and I’m happy with it. Hoping I set a good foundation for tomorrow’s work! 😀

Excerpt:

The pub was hard to miss. Eral paused to take in its inviting facade, something of a universal appearance in this region.

Except for the balcony and doors above the regular doors meant for pixies to use.

Elias was the one to bound forward. “Well, let’s see what they got, eh? Look, pixie doors!” He pointed up at the balcony that Eral had noticed and grinned.

Eral couldn’t even be exasperated for Elias’ exuberance this time. While Joleth and Elias used their doors, Eral couldn’t help alighting on the balcony and using a door sized for him. His hand lingered on the handle. It wasn’t a dollhouse door. It wasn’t some convincing fake miniature on cheap hinges. It was a real door. He hadn’t seen anything like it outside of the faelands or fae-only communities.

Halfway there! I didn’t have as much fun writing today as usual, but not because the story itself wasn’t exciting … I just really wanted to be doing other things the whole time. Restless. Still, I got myself to a good milestone. 😀

Excerpt:

She snorted out a laugh that was half disbelief and half acceptance. “Alright. If we have deal with some wild beast out here, you better not be trying to be friends with it.”

Elias raised his eyebrows even as Joleth picked up her walking pace and he had to speed up to keep apace. “But what if it’s soft-looking?”

I got a lot done today! I wanted to make up for doing less yesterday, and I also got to introduce a new character, so that was really fun! This story is so much fun to explore and kind of let it take me wherever!

Excerpt:

Eral rolled his eyes. “What’s got you all excited?”

Elias gestured to the mace on Joleth’s belt, now partially obscured by her long coat. “Eral, she’s a badass. We’re gonna be crossing Genfierz. Not that I don’t think we could probably take whatever came our way, but more help would never be a bad thing. Also we can help her get more food than waiting around for someone to wander by and stuff.”

Eral slapped his forehead with his palm. “You should really lead with the helping-someone part,” he said. “It sounds better.”
